I do monthly grocery shopping but every Sunday I go shopping for little things like fruits and veggies for the week. When I get home I clean my fruits and chop them up for the girls to snack on during the week. I find that when the fruit is already cleaned and chopped it’s easier to reach for them instead of chips or other unhealthy snacks. The way I clean fruit is both simple and natural, thanks to one MAGICAL item…
I use vinegar around the house for just about everything with my amazing cleaning concoction that I’ll share with you later. From cleaning the windows, the counters, the garbage disposal, and the shower. I even use it as a bath additive for my daughter’s eczema. Vinegar is just amazing!
All you do is fill your sink (or a large bowl depending on how much fruit you have) with water. I use hot water for hardy fruits like apples but don’t use hot water if you are cleaning berries – strawberries especially are too delicate and they will soak up all that hot water.
Then add some vinegar. I prefer to use white distilled vinegar but you could use apple cider vinegar etc.
Now all you do is throw the fruit in and let it soak for ten minutes. Look all how dirty the water gets!
For apples I like to also add baking soda and scrub them with a paper towel , it really gets off all that wax
And now you’re ready to chop. i usually can’t get through chopping all the strawberries before….
these two show up! lol
Enjoy your clean fruit 🙂
I think it goes without saying that you don’t have to clean the bananas…but just in case…i’m just saying. 🙂
