As a part of my entry way family command center, a bench was critical! Once the girls started early preschool at age 2 I realized I needed a system to get them out the door faster and keep everything organized. I don’t have a mud room so i decided putting something in our entryway was the perfect solution. We store the girls shoes (and some of our flip flops) and purses/backpacks in the storage baskets. The girls can sit on the bench and we can put on their shoes. The bench has even served as a time out spot on occasion! LOL! Talk about a multitasker!
Bench Seat Cushion
I got this bench from Target. Seriously target.com is the truth! i caught a sale, plus i used my red card debit card for 5% off, then its free shipping. How do you beat that deal. The bench is so cute on its own, but white cushions + twincesses = a dirty mess waiting to happen. So i decided to cover the cushions. I didn’t want to sew cushions, cause 1: its alot of work and i didn’t want to mess with zippers etc and 2: i want to be able to take it off easily and wash the fabric. I had a few options for no sew, i could have used fabric glue or even the no sew velcro but i wanted the fabric to stay in tact totally so that on any given day and i want to make me and my girls matching maxi skirts, I can just whip this fabric off get to sewing LOL.
My solution was to just safety pin everything together, and so the no sew bench seat cushion was born!
First step cover with batting, and safety pinning it to the cushion.
Close other side and safety pin to the other safety pin (can you see the safety pins are connected)
Pin it all together
Pinning the sides
Pin pin pin
Do the same thing with the duck cloth fabric and voila!
