DIY Party Favors: CD Medals and Water Bottles

One of the best part of my twincesses’ birthday party were the cute DIY party favors. I hate going to parties and getting a whole bunch of toys that will just junk up my house. Instead I always try to give a functional or edible favor. In this case because it was a gymnastics party I decided on water bottles and CD Medals with tumbling music! I wanted to do medals for pictures on the podium but what do parents do with fake medals after the party besides toss them! So I decided to make the CDs look like medals. They were the perfect favors and not that expensive to DIY.

DIY CD Medals

I used these ribbon from Hobby Lobby and CD Shell Cases. I labeled the CDs with Avery Labels. The Avery website has a very user friendly label designer and my cousin Wendy and I were able to customize this cute label.

There was a little trial and error to get the label to print perfectly on the label but eventually I got it lined up perfectly. I then carefully transferred the label to the CD and put it in the clear CD case.

Next I measured out the amount of ribbon needed to go around my girl’s necks and have the CD hang at the right place on their little necks. I cut out all my ribbon in both colors and used a lighter to seal the ends to prevent fraying. Then I hot glued the two ends together and then to the back of the CD cases.

DIY Water Bottles

I got the water bottles from the dollar tree and used some decorative twine to tie thank you labels to the bottles. I designed the labels in Microsoft Publisher. I would be happy to email you the printable if you would like it.

And there you have it! Cute favors for your gymnastics party.

The most important thing is the kids really loved them! They had a lot of fun posing for pictures on the podium with their medals and bottles.
