Today I’m going to share some photos from my family’s thanksgiving celebration last year. We always celebrate thanksgiving at my husband’s Aunt and Uncle’s house. Our Uncle Herman is the best cook ever. Let me tell you, you haven’t lived until you have had his cornbread stuffing or potato salad. I’m trying my best to convince him to write a cookbook, cause those recipes need to be shared with the world! That whole Washington family Herman, Sharon and Wendy are so creative that I wanted to share with you their beautiful thanksgiving table and ideas for hosting your thanksgiving.
First this gorgeous tablescape. I loved the rich reds and gold’s they chose for the table. The centerpiece was a lighted masterpiece and who could forget the custom menus!
Ok let’s get into the menu! Cousin Wendy did her thing with this design. Meat selections, Dressing selections, Accompaniments and The extras. Yes please! Our menu was so fancy and beautiful. You see that Green pea and sweet corn melange? Don’t ask me how to pronounce it but it was good! But let me tell you my favorite part of the menu. You may have noticed that the selections have check boxes and there is a space for your name at the bottom. That’s because they came up with the brilliant idea to have the kids make the adult’s plates. All we had to do was check off what we wanted and sit back and wait for our plate to show up. Let me tell you…best idea ever! Of course we all went back for our own seconds, but it was nice to be served and for the kids to participate.
Even the little kids had a menu that they could choose from and be served.
Complete with activity pages that they could color on and work on after dinner.
Speaking of after dinner, its become a tradition to put up Aunt Cookie’s Christmas tree after dinner, while the guys are watching football we are getting creative and even learning how to make bows.
Cousin Wendy made us all bows for our trees too!
Happy Thanksgiving all! What are your holiday traditions?
