With the seasons beginning to change and the weather getting cooler, it’s time to start decorating your home for Fall. While many people decorate their homes for the winter holidays, not many homeowners take advantage of the wonderful colors and decor of Fall. Pumpkins, leaves, apples, and warm colors will give your home a cozy atmosphere while transitioning between seasons. For many people, autumn is a favorite season because of the beautiful colors, crisp air, and delicious treats. To bring these wonderful aspects of the autumn season into your home, consider these DIY Fall decor ideas to transform your home for Fall.

Fall Decor Ideas: 3 Ways to Transform Your Home for Fall

1) Pumpkins

Since autumn is quickly becoming the season for pumpkin-flavored everything, it’s only natural to use pumpkins when decorating your home for autumn. Pumpkins come in a wide variety of sizes and colors, which means there are many different ways to use them in your autumn decor. Jack-o-lanterns are probably the most popular way to use pumpkins for decorating, but there are ways to use pumpkins without the mess of cleaning them out. Large pumpkins can be placed on the steps leading up to your front door, smaller ones can be arranged on your mantle or dining room table, or you can always carve or paint them. If you don’t want to have to clean up real pumpkins at the end of the season, you can always use faux pumpkins for your decor. With faux pumpkins, you can spray paint them, replace the stems with decorative doorknobs, or make them into flower pots.

2) Leaves

Leaves are probably one of the most quintessential aspects of autumn. This means they’re also essential when decorating your home for the season. Leaves can be used in a multitude of ways to make your home feel like autumn. Use leaves to create autumn garland to hang on your mantle or wrap around your stair railings. Frame single leaves to create an autumn gallery. You can tie leaves around glass pillars to make festive candle holders.

3) Apples

There’s nothing that says autumn like warm apple cider, apple pie made with freshly-picked apples, and going apple picking with your friends and family. Apples can also be used for making your home fit for autumn. There are quite a few ways to use apples in your decor, whether they’re real or fake. To make a centerpiece for your dining table, cut the tops off the apples, “paint” the inside and edges of the hole with lemon juice, and place a tealight candle in the hole. You can place the apples on pedestals of varying heights or put them in a class bowl of water as floating candles.

When transforming your home into a cozy, autumn retreat, use warm or neutral colors in your decor. Take your color cues from nature and use reds, oranges, yellows, and whites or creams. Table runners, throw blankets, pillows, and wreaths are great ways to bring the colors of autumn into your home. Always use pieces that you enjoy and that remind you of your own memories of autumn. I hope you enjoyed these DIY Fall decor ideas.
