The girls share a room and I don’t see that changing any time soon, they love being together in the same room. Peyton would love to be in the same bed if she could, Jordy on the other hand likes her own bed. The cribs are Savannah Tori Convertible Cribs from JCPenney, I waited them out until they were on sale for less than half the original price!
One of my favorite projects in the room was putting the girls names above their cribs. I got some cheap white letters and green polka dot ribbon from Hobby Lobby and simply stapled the ribbon to the back of the letters with a staple gun. I used command hooks to hang them over their cribs, I definitely think this has been a big help with the girls learning to spell their names. As babies when I would put them in their cribs I would show them their name and spell it out for them. Now at the three they love to do that on their own.
One of the most importantly things in the room for me is this scripture verse ” For this child I have prayed and the Lord has granted the desires of my heart”. My twincesses were born at 25 weeks, weighing 1 pound each and the doctors really didn’t know their long term prognosis. We have done so much praying for them and we have seen God work in miraculous ways with them. Now healthy three year olds, we firmly believe they are miracles from God.
Now I know that bookcase isn’t the most organized, when they were babies it was pristine, but now at three the girls put their own books and toys away and that’s as good as it gets for them. And I’m good with that!
I saw that cute little love at first sight frame at Hobby Lobby and I had to get it. Even though when we first saw that there were two babies and not one in there, there was alot of shock and shoot even a few tears, there was also lots of love. That frame with their ultrasound picture helps me to remember that moment especially now that their favorite word is NO!
The girls have a great walk in closet in their room and a small dresser. That dresser worked when they were only wearing onesies but now that they have alot more clothes and of course the clothes are bigger and its two sets of everything, its definitely time for a bigger dresser. I think a longer dresser will also fit better in that space.
In the frame above the dresser holds our first family portrait and birth announcements from President Barack and Michelle Obama! It will definitely be something I treasure, if you would like to do this for your child its an easy process, just send a birth announcement or a birth certificate to:
