White Hot Chocolate Recipe

I did a post a few days ago about the hot chocolate bar we had at our new years day shin ding and I got some requests for the recipe for the white hot chocolate. Let me tell you…this thing is decadent and divine. And what’s even better is that there are so many variations you can do with it just by changing the extract or the add ins. So while it’s still cold outside, play around with different combinations and have fun!

White Hot Chocolate Recipe (Multiple Flavor Combos) - This thing is decadent and divine. So quick to make. Makes a few cups.

This white hot chocolate  recipe makes a few cups. I tripled it for the party and used a whole bag of Ghirardelli white chocolate chips

Recipe:
1 cup of white chocolate chips
1 cup heavy cream
4 cups milk (I used 2% milk)
1 teaspoon of extract of choice
Toppings of choice

Directions:
Over medium heat, combine white chocolate chips with heavy cream in saucepan. Stir until chips are melted, then stir in milk and extract(s) of choice. Stir until heated through and thoroughly mixed. Pour in mugs and use toppings of choice.

Extract of Choice suggestions:
The standard here is vanilla extract and that is what I used for our party but the options are really limitless! And you can change your recipe according to the holiday or season here are some suggestions:
Peppermint extract
Pumpkin spice extract
Eggnog extract
Cinnamon extract
Coconut extract
Hazelnut extract
Rum extract
Strawberry extract
Coffee extract

Toppings of choice suggestions:
Liquor (eg Baileys, Ponche Kuba, Malibu Rum, Rum)
marshmallows
flavored marshmallows (eg peppermint)
hershey’s kisses
pirouette wafers
crushed candy canes
whipped cream
flavored whipped cream
chocolate syrup
crushed candy bars (eg heath, butterfinger, oreo)

See what I mean…i could go on an on but you get the idea. you can even mix extracts…for example mix pineapple extract with coconut extract for a warm pina colada hot chocolate. Top with whipped cream and toasted coconut. Forget starbucks I’m gonna start my own hot chocolate business. You heard it here first people, don’t steal my idea!

Yessss! Thanks Bajan Texan! I'm going to have an event just so I can make this! And I'm going to make a version with vanilla bean and I'll try a version with coconut milk for my vegans. Hyped!
